Position Summary

The Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP) Supervisor will act as support to the Project Manager and will be responsible for the day to day running of the project site; ensuring works are being completed safely, on time, to specification and schedule and within budget.

The position will also be responsible for overseeing and managing the SMP onsite team, which includes related functions of onsite activities.

The suitable candidate will have:

  • Degree in Engineering and or Project Management;
  • Indentured trade qualifications;
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Construction industry;
  • Experience working on multi disciplined projects.


Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate sub-contractors, labour, plant and material deliveries on site;
  • Assist with the development of look ahead programs;
  • Provide technical and logistical support to sub-contractors;
  • Assist with raising TQ’s, variations, and delay notices;
  • Review and monitor the availability of drawings, specifications, job instructions, material deliveries and tools applicable to his/her particular discipline and are of work;
  • Develop detailed daily and weekly work plans in accordance with the baseline schedule to allow sufficient time for job preparation;
  • Work closely with Project Engineers to develop and execute work packs;
  • Inform the Site Manager on specific areas where the program needs to be adjusted in accordance with site conditions and material deliveries;
  • Monitor trades in this discipline adhere strictly to the latest Approved for Construction (AFC) project drawings, baseline schedule, specifications, ITPs (internal test procedures), Procedures and Site Instructions;
  • Conduct detailed pre-start meetings with work crew;
  • Ensure employees are instructed in and comply with all aspects of Kerman Health Safety and Environment policy, site regulations, permit to work procedures & instructions and client requirements;
  • Responsible for monitoring the discipline and timekeeping of labour in a defined work area, identifying any disciplinary action required, and informing the Site Manager;
  • Assist with risk assessment for construction activities;
  • Facilitate JSA’s;
  • Conduct worksite safety and environmental inspections;
  •  Assist with the preparation of work method statements;
  • Assist with site industrial relations and human resources issues;
  • Perform QA worksite inspections with client representatives;
  • Complete QA check sheets and checklists for on-site work;

  • Take responsibility for your own safety, uphold the Company OHS&E policies and participate in Company OHS&E initiatives.

Key Performance Indicators / Performance Metrics

  • Site maintained and construction activities conducted in a safe manner;
  • Works constructed in accordance with contract documents and achievement of agreed milestones;
  • Up to date and accurate QA inspections and completed checklists;
  • Helpful assistance with and identification of TQ’s, variations & delays;
  • Achievement of agreed milestones.

  • Experience in the Construction Industry;

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Engineering and or Project Management;
  • Indentured trade qualifications;
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Construction industry;
  • Operating experience in mining and/or industrial plants;
  • High Risk Work Licence (Worksafe Certificate) (2008);
  • OHS Construction Induction Card;
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft applications;
  • AutoCAD or familiarity with various drawings software’s would be an advantage;
  • Experience with design software for conveyors, pipe networks, machine elements and similar would be advantageous;
  • Experience in working with multiple discipline projects;
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite;
  • C Class License.
